Public Forum to Discuss Downtown Storefront Designs

downtown stoughton center

On Wednesday, January 24th the Friends of Stoughton Center will host a Public Forum at the Knights of Columbus located at 14 Seaver Street at 6:30 pm to give the public the opportunity to provide input for the Downtown Storefront Improvement Design Guidelines that are currently being developed by Architect, Anthi Frangiadis of Frangiadis Associates. The Town’s Economic Development Director, Pamela McCarthy obtained a grant from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Economic Development Fund in the amount of $25,000 to produce these guidelines as well as conceptual designs for the storefronts of three projects. At the meeting Ms. McCarthy will also discuss the CDBG Application that she is preparing in order to gain funding for a Storefront and Sign Improvement Program. Applications will be available at the meeting for Downtown commercial property owners that are interested in receiving funding for façade and sign improvements if the money becomes available. Business owners may also fill out applications for sign improvements only if they are able to obtain the permission of the property owner. Full sign and façade projects will require a financial contribution by the property owner. The program may be able to fully fund sign only improvements. A grant award announcement by the State is expected in July. You do not have to be a member of the Friends of Stoughton Center to attend the meeting. If you have any questions or if you are unable to attend the meeting but are interested in the filling out an application contact Pamela McCarthy, Economic Development Director at 781-341-1300 x9265 or pmccarthy@stoughton-ma.gov.
